About Us

Why was Loudsprout founded?
Steve Basmajian founded Loudsprout, Inc. (then Freelink Wireless Services, LLC.) in 2005. He was poor, in school, and couldn’t pay his cellphone bill. Steve wanted to find a way to make mobile service free. The original concept was to make cellphone service free through placing advertising on mobile phones utilizing an innovative mobile platform. Steve received initial backing in the company from the University of North Texas in 2005 through a business plan competition. Over the next three years, the concept expanded into mobile content promotion. A team of people were attracted to the technology, and in 2007 Loudsprout acquired investment to develop a prototype of the system. This technology is patent-pending.

What makes Loudsprout different?
In a world of text messaging, Loudsprout stands out. Text messaging has become the most common form of mobile promotion because text messages are cheap and every phone can receive them. Promoting content is difficult because you can’t see anything but text. Would you go to YouTube if all they had were text descriptions of the videos? Probably not.

Other mainstream methods of mobile promotion are picture/audio/video messages (MMS) and content promoted over the mobile web. Interacting with this content requires too much work. With MMS, you have to access your inbox to open some message that initially has a text description of content you may or may not want. It’s not immediate or intuitive. While mobile internet connection speeds have increased, most phones do not have the capabilities to access the high speed connection. Not to mention most mobile web browsers are difficult to navigate, and you have to find the content you’re looking for. Some companies have developed applications to receive rich media content on mobile phones, but these applications are difficult to navigate, and require that you open the application to see content. It’s not really mobile promotion if you’re doing all of the work. Oh, and most of these applications only work on smartphones.

There is a need for a mobile application that takes rich-media content, displays that content directly and automatically to the user without accessing any application, and enables one-button interaction with that content. And it needs to work for everyone, regardless of what phone you have. The Loudsprout application solves all of these issues, and is what makes our application different. And by different, we mean better.

What content do you plan on sending?
Anything and everything. The sky is the limit. We can send static graphics, audio, video, games, applications, social network updates, and much more.

Is this spam?
No. Regardless of the content, you double-opt in to receive it. Mobile content is promoted through traditional channels (Print, TV, Web, etc.), and you would access a web page or text a short code to sign up for content. In addition, you can remove content at any time by accessing your account on the web or on your phone.

Where can I get it?
We are currently seeking investment to bring this technology to the market. We expect to take the application public in late 2008/early 2009.
